Jamestown Bridge Demo

This $19M project included demolition and removal of approximately 5,330 feet of the old Jamestown Bridge, spanning the West Passage of Narragansett Bay. The structure, an old truss bridge located between the towns of North Kingstown and Jamestown, RI, was adjacent to the new Jamestown bridge, making demolition more complicated. Ultimately, the Contractor would need to remove and dispose of approximately 6,000 tons of steel and 38,000 cubic yards of concrete.

Turino assisted RIDOT in the proposals to complete the project earlier than planned and the feasibility of doing so. Turino was the lead scheduler involved in reviewing the Contractor's submitted Baseline and Schedule Updates and reported every other week on the Project's progress, issues and mitigation efforts if needed.

The project was completed early, prior to the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, thus mitigating impacts to the traffic and tourism to Jamestown and Newport during the busy summer months.
